We stayed six nights and were very happy with the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was Turkish with a good selection of dishes each day - eggs, cheeses, salads, breads to name some. The room was a good size as was the shower/bathroom. Housekeeping kept the room beautifully clean. The hotel is a couple of minutes away from the tram to the Blue Mosque and Dolmabahce palace; and buses to Taksim square. Ideal for seeing the sights - Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia also easily walkable. Would book Grand Umit if I visited Istanbul again

When it comes to cleanliness this was the second dirtiest hotel I've came across in all countries I've visited. When it comes to staff, they are the rudest staff I've come across, I'm not sure if it's only the night shift! It seemed to me this hotel is run by a gang- much suitable for the dangerous neighborhood it's situated in! We arrived late at night and immediately they took our passports and much to my surprise they've decided to keep them! When we were showed our room, it had nauseating body odor. We pointed that out to their staff who got aggressive and literally replied "this is just the smell from previous guest!" We were speechless, we checked the sheets- sth that we always do so we can ask for immediate change of sheets if necessary. All of them were torn and soiled! The staff turned more aggressive and started blaming us for the hotel's faults. Our booking clearly stated that the room has a TV, and ironically a sea view. None was true. We simply asked the front desk guy for a cleaner room. Of course, they were holding our passports and it was late so they just brushed us aside. We decided to go for dinner and that was when we discovered the neighborhood where this hotel is situated. It IS dangerous, certainly not for families, or anyone who doesn't enjoy the view of prostitutes and beggars everywhere. Naturally we checked out first thing in the morning. The rude staff still charged us for two nights. Booking.com refunded us part of the money as they found out the hotel did cheat us. The breakfast was fine, fresh, clean and refills kept coming on as 2-3 staff were assigned to the breakfast area, all of whom seemed to be hard workers.

I stayed in this hotel for two night. Very nice family run hotel. Clean and very friendly staff/owners Nice breakfast everything freshly prepared. I stayed in a single room , its enough room I had to turn heating off during the night because i was warm. So owner very generous, most hotels turn heating off late at night. I definitely will recommend this hotel.

It has a great location, easy access to the tram and metro line, and close commute to most of the attractions of Istanbul. It offers a great accommodation, the rooms are spacious and clean and the stuff are very hospitable and helpfull, the best service offered!

Being there for 20 nights, I would reccomend this family owned hotel, to anyone who is traveling on low budget. The staff was very friendly, free coffee, tea and smile during all the day, assistance for everything, like how to easily reach some parts of the city, where to have nice meal, how to arrange traveling to airport, they are really well informed and helpful... Location is near Aksaray, so easy to reach any part of the city by tramway, metro, bus...Clean rooms, breakfast ok, there was very interesting soup which I enjoyed. Small terrace at the back, recently renewed, perfect for evening coffee with friends.
